A Tradition of Innovation & Excellence in South Tampa
SoHo Sushi is a vibrant Japanese restaurant and bar conveniently located in the heart of South Tampa. Known throughout the Tampa Bay area for our creative, fresh, and award-winning sushi rolls and sashimi, we take pride in offering an exceptional dining experience for every guest. Don’t let our name fool you—with an expanded selection of hot teriyaki, light tempura, and signature non-sushi entrees, our kitchen is expertly equipped to cater to even the most discerning palate.
Small Beginnings on South Howard Avenue
In March of 2005, SoHo Sushi acquired The Yellow Door on South Howard Avenue, giving birth to our name in Tampa’s iconic SoHo District. With just 10 dining tables and a intimate sushi bar seating seven, these humble surroundings proved to be the perfect foundation for building a unique, transformative sushi culture in the city.
By April 2008, it was clear that our original Howard Avenue space could no longer accommodate our growing community of sushi lovers. Seeking a larger home to match expanding demand, SoHo Sushi relocated to its current flagship location on Kennedy Boulevard—formerly Jasmine Thai. With nearly double the footprint, this transition provided the ideal launching pad for new menu items, extended services, and continued brand growth.
Growth, Evolution & Elevated Hospitality
Over the years, the SoHo Sushi experience has continually evolved. In May 2011, the restaurant underwent an extensive front-to-back remodel, expanding the sushi bar, adding more dining room seating, and introducing an increased wine and sake selection. Soon after, the kitchen was refitted to handle booming demand for our hot kitchen offerings and creative Japanese cuisine.
In 2013, our family grew even further with the addition of full-service catering and the launch of our sister concept, Sushi Inc., in the heart of downtown St. Petersburg, bringing our signature energetic vibe and fresh sushi across the bay.
A New Era: Burton Holdings & Beyond (2022–Present)
In 2022, SoHo Sushi entered an exciting new chapter with its acquisition by Burton Holdings. This pivotal transition injected fresh vision and capital into the brand while honoring the core identity that Tampa has loved for nearly two decades.
Since 2022, Burton Holdings has focused on accelerating the advancement of our culinary quality, service standards, and guest offerings. From sourcing ultra-premium, sustainably caught fish to curating a world-class wine and sake portfolio, every detail of the dining experience has been elevated. With continuous menu innovations, enhanced kitchen practices, and upcoming new project concepts on the horizon, SoHo Sushi remains Tampa Bay’s premier destination for fine Japanese dining and hospitality.
